The weather is getting warmer here in Maine and that means more opportunities to get your dog out to walk the beaches, shop the towns, and dine at some of the most dog-friendly eateries in the state. It may come as a surprise that not only do many local restaurants and pubs allow dogs, but that they are ready and willing to cater to your pup just like they would you! So whether you and your pooch are into more classy cuisine or regular old fish ‘n chips, our list of the best dog-friendly eateries in Maine has something for everyone!

1. Rollover Cafe
358 Mile Rd, Wells, ME 04090

Known for its gourmet coffee and pastries, the Rollover Cafe in Wells is cozy and quaint and the perfect place to grab a delicious breakfast sandwich with your pup. The outside patio is, of course, pet-friendly and many customers enjoy the dog themed menu items like the ‘Woofie Breakfast Sandwich’ or the ‘Barker Lunch Special.’ Plus, the cafe also makes tasty, gourmet dog treats and will accommodate their four-legged customers by bringing them a snack and a bowl of water. There are tie-offs all around the deck where you can hook up your dog’s leash as well and if after the meal you and your pup feel like taking a stroll, Wells Beach is right around the corner!

2. Salt & Honey
24 Ocean Avenue, Kennebunkport, ME 04046

Located right off of Dock Square in scenic Kennebunkport, Salt & Honey is an award-winning, minimalist eatery that serves everything from delicious breakfast foods to classic New England cuisine and craft beers. The best part? Their outside balcony is dog-friendly! Set up with many tables, chairs and water bowls for your furry friend, there is plenty of space to stretch your legs and for Fido to take a nap. The servers are used to walking around dogs and the view from your balcony seat is quite scenic. Plus, after your meal, you and your pup can walk around the Port area where many more dog-friendly eaters and shops await!

If you want a fun, casual, and dog-friendly eating experience while visiting the Old Orchard Beach area, look no further! The Sunset Bar & Grill offers outdoor seating in the form of a cozy balcony as well as an open lawn with picnic tables, chairs, and a fire-pit. Both are dog-friendly and the staff absolutely loves to say hi to your furry friends! The staff will bring it’s four-legged customers water and, if you ask, an entire plate of chicken fingers! It doesn’t get better than that if you’re a dog! Plus, the eatery is open year-round and live entertainment is usually there on weekends and in the summer. Let the dog-friendly dining begin!

5. Blaze
198 Main Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609

Blaze is a hip and happening, wood-fired pizza and burger bar that is known for its many craft beers and creative, American dishes. Its outside patio and bar also happens to be dog-friendly! Each pup will receive a bowl of water and everyone from the waitstaff to the bartenders to other customers will enjoy the company of your pup either at the bar or at and around the tables set up by the scenic street. Food ranges from classic pizza and fries to more upscale cuisine like an applewood smoked duck salad with goat cheese and arugula. But no matter what you’re in the mood for, you and your dog will be waited on hand and paw!

We think it’s amazing that so many restaurants cater to canines and we’re proud that Maine has some of the best! There are many more eateries not listed here that also serve our pups and we hope you’ll check them out. After all, it wouldn’t be a family night out without the family dog! Happy dining!
